
Heidi Watney was born May 19, 1981. She is an American sportscaster. She graduated from the University of San Diego, her previous broadcasting experience includes the roles of MLB Network, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles, and two stations in Fresno. Watney attended Clovis West High School in Fresno, participating in gymnastics, hurdles, diving and cheerleading. [1] She was an National Merit Scholar and attended the University of San Diego on an academic scholarship. There, she graduated with honors in 2003. Watney competed in Miss California USA 2002, in which she finished as the first in the runner-up category. Watney is the cousin to professional golfer Nick Watney. 7 Andy Weir claimed that he utilized the name of Watney to create the character Mark Watney in his science fiction novel The Martian. This was after hearing her name on the Red Sox game broadcast. Watney appears in the music video of Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style".
