
Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her breakthrough came through her performance as Tina in the movie Do the Right Thing (1989), and then White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fearless (1993). Her film roles as a star since include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008), and Birds of Prey (2020).Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her work in the film The Flight Attendant (2020-present). She has been in Broadway stage plays such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She was also the co-host of the 18th season of ABC's talk show The View. She attended Grover Cleveland High School, in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens. Her mother was in the poverty of Woodside Houses by 1999. She died of complications from AIDS in the year 1999.
